This May half-term, the Science and Industry Museum hosts a sense-sational programme of free, family-friendly fun for all ages, inspired by the blockbuster exhibition Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You.

Uncover the incredible ways that animals experience the world with the captivating live science show Wild Senses. Learn about the super-sensory powers of bees, bats and more, before testing your skills on a sensory trail a special agility course. Head to the tasting station to find out how bees taste and smell, before building your own bee to take home.

As always, the museum’s free galleries are open daily, with over 250 years of inspiring innovations and surprising science brought to life through amazing objects, stories and hands-on activities.

Peer through walls, experience heat vision and see if you’re strong enough to lift a car in Experiment, an interactive gallery for the whole family to enjoy.

Discover world-changing ideas and our city’s role in the country’s creative industry in Revolution Manchester. Get up close to one of the first Rolls-Royce motorcars, meet ‘Baby’ – the ancestor of every modern computer, and get creative on the mixing desk.

Pick up a free activity trail and guide yourself through the mighty machines of the Textiles Gallery with fun games and challenges. Build a textiles tower, try your hand at weaving or spin your body like a bobbin.

Plus, add a ticket for the delightfully disgusting exhibition, Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You to explore our senses like never before. Get shrunk down to microscopic size and set out on a medical mission into the brain headquarters, with rooms dedicated to each of the five senses. You can squeeze through gross, gooey ear canals, avoid sticky snot and enter a giant eye ball on an epic adventure of super-sized science and brilliant biology.

Open daily throughout May half-term, Power Up brings fifty years of video gaming history to life with over 150 different consoles, each loaded with some of the best titles spanning generations of digital play.

Whether it’s nostalgic favourites like Pac-Man and Atari or latest-gen PS5 games and mesmerising virtual reality systems, Power Up promises to delight parents and children alike with the ‘ultimate hands-on gaming experience’. Annual passes are available to purchase, so you can come back whenever you want to play as much as you like for an entire year.
